AM2
The AM2 is a practical assessment with a short online component. This will take a total of 16.25 hours, the AM2S/E will take 17.75 hours. During this time candidates undertake a series of timed tasks in specially equipped booths containing typical electrical installation wiring systems. The exercises include installation, inspection and testing, safe isolation and fault-finding. The work must comply with the current IET Wiring Regulations and be carried out in line with Health & Safety best practice.
Assessment sections
The AM2 competence assessment comprises 5 sections A - E:
- A1 Safe Isolation and Risk Assessment (45 mins)
- A Composite Installation (10 hours for AM2S/E or 8.5 hours for AM2)
- B Inspection and Testing (3.5 hours)
- C Safe Isolation (30 mins)
- D Fault Diagnosis and Rectification (2 hours)
- E Assessment of Applied Knowledge (1 hour)
