2357 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology

 

This exciting new qualification is a complete electrical qualification for apprentice's wanting to become qualified electrican's.

The way the course will work is part distance learning and part class taught with tutor support throughout. This course can be started at any time and completed at the individuals pace. We send out modules to be worked through and completed at home and return. You will be able to meet up with your assessor to discuss progress and experience one-one and small group tuition.

We run an intense week through the summer for lectures and practical assessments and practice (Usually in August). We have found this week very beneficial and it is included in the package at no extra cost.

 

The 2357 is a complete electrical qualification which breaks down into 3 components:

  1. Knowledge Units
  2. Performance Unit – NVQ
  3. Independent Assessment Unit – AM2

The guided learning hours are only for guidance for the classroom taught option. Obviously these units can be done quicker than this depending on the pace, motivation, and level of learning of each candidate doing the distance learning option.

Exams/Assessments

For each unit there is a certain amount of tasks which need to be completed.

These tasks are either Practical Assessments, Written Exams or Online Multi-choice exams.

Performance Unit – NVQ

This is the work based part of the NVQ and is assessed wholly at work

How it works

You will be provided with a portfolio to work through and produce evidence covering all the different units. 

You will be allocated an assessor who will be your contact for your NVQ.

The assessor will need to come and visit you at your work place.

Once stage 1 and stage 2 have been completed there is a final assessment to be taken.

Independent Assessment Unit – AM2 Unit 399

This unit is Electrotechnical Occupational Competance (AM2)

The AM2 must be entered when you are ready.  This is normally with the agreement of your employer and NVQ assessor.

It is the final unit to be taken in the 2357 qualification.

It has to be taken at one of the nationally accredited AM2 centres.

PRICE

The AM2 is nationally set at £561.00. (this is not included in any other prices)

Thompson Training currently jointly run an AM2 centre at City of Westminster College.

Thompson Training offer refresher and top up days from £100.

The course is completed in stages, can be run together dependent upon the learners circumstances.

The course is recomended for apprentices or those in the trade who are looking to gain a recognised qualification.

 

QUESTIONS

How Does it Work

You will be assigned an assessor.

You will be given modules to work through. When you complete one module it will be marked then the next module will be given to you.

What about exams?

When these are required you will contact us and, we will arrange a mutually conveinient place and time to take this.

What about assignments?

The open book assignments can be taken at home and then forwarded to us for marking.

What about Practicals?

The course does have practical elements. You need to arrange with your assessor to take what ever practicals are required at one of our assessment centres.

Summer School

We also provide an intense week of training, practice and exam taking. This is usualy in the summer and can be from Suffolk, Essex or London area.

Progression

This course will allow candidates to progress onto the following qualifications :

Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations

Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations

Level 4 Award in Design and Verification of Electrical Installations
